Dianna Sisas' passion
for travel and the outdoors was ignited during her junior year in college, when
she immersed herself in the culture of southern France.
There she traveled by bicycle exploring the mountainous coasts of Italy
and Yugoslavia as well as the countryside and coastline of northern France.
It was during these journeys that she began to appreciate the cultural
similarities of the human experience, noticing how land and environment work
together to shape people.
Upon graduating with a BS in Journalism from the University of Maryland,
Dianna’s love of travel send her west where she guided horseback rides in the
Sierra Mountains of California and taught basic equestrian skills at a summer
camp in the San Juan Islands of the Pacific Northwest.
She has taught environmental science and outdoor education in Washington
and Maine. For the past eight years
she has directed an adventure travel program for teenagers based in Maine,
Colorado, Wyoming and Washington. She
received her Maine Kayak Guide’s license in 2001.
Her passion for guiding people in the outdoors ranges from youth groups
to Elder Hostel participants. She
is inspired by the power of nature as a teacher and enjoys helping others learn
to appreciate the challenges, accomplishments and personal growth that comes
from being active in the outdoors.
