Each itinerary will be custom designed for the group, allowing for maximum time spent exploring different ecosystems and viewing wildlife. Our specific activities will be determined based upon each group’s specific course objectives and program length.Peeking out of the Coral

Field Activities

  • Snorkel right off of the shoreline to look at soft corals and tropical fish.

  • Dance with the Garifuna and limbo during a BBQ on the beach.

  • Participate in a night snorkel to see how the reef comes alive in the dark.

  • Wade in the shallow water to observe mangrove trees up close and then snorkel among their roots.

  • Do a fish survey on the reef and learn to identify more species of tropical fish than you ever knew existed!

  • Help a researcher gather data for an ongoing coral reef monitoring project.

  • Tow for plankton and check out what you find under the microscopes in the lab.

  • Collect and identify invertebrates from the sea floor.

  • Learn hands-on about dolphin behavior, biology, and current research by getting up close and personal with the animals during a swim.

  • Kayak around a tropical island.

  • Horseback ride along the beach.

  • Check out the tropical forest on Roatan Island and hike through Carambola Gardens

  • Hike around Bailey's Key and observe indigenous plants, iguanas, agoutis and parrots.

  • Meet and talk to locals as you tour the towns of the island.

  • Optional extension trip to the mainland to go whitewater rafting and sleep in the rainforest.
